CHRIS LONG V ROB HUNT
WOLVERHAMPTON CIVIC HALL - APRIL 24TH

If anyone has earned the description of “Have gloves, will travel” it is Chris Long from Calne, managed by Tex Woodward and training at Spaniorum Farm Gym when he can get time off from working as a builder/ground worker.

In the latest of his 36 bouts, W 9, D 4, Lost 23, Chris travelled to Wolverhampton Civic Hall to give tall and unbeaten house fighter Rob Hunt, another win on his record - it wasn’t to be! Despite being floored for an eight count in the first round, Long recovered quickly to take the fight to Rob, negating the local man’s reach and skills with close quarters body punching. One punch that didn’t go to Hunt’s body was a well delivered right hand to the chin, which dropped the home fighter and looked to have won the fight for the visitor. Hunt regained his feet before being counted out and battled on to earn the Draw, which was the first blemish on his unbeaten record.

JULIETTE WINTER. U.K. SUPER-FLYWEIGHT

According to Tex Woodward, manager and coach to Jane Couch M.B.E. winner of five World titles, Juliette Winter has never achieved her potential in the boxing ring.

The winner of just four bouts out of ten over a period of ten years, Woodward believes Juliette has more success to come. He says, “ When Jane Couch first came to Spaniorum Farm Gym she had little to offer in boxing skills but made up for this with an immensely high training work-rate and regular sparring with a variety of good and not so good male boxers. Juliette is now visiting the farm more regularly and sparring with male professionals. If she can find just part of Jane’s success she will be U.K’s next female star boxer”.

Woodward adds, “ I have discussed Juliette’s future with her and we agree that boxers should box and we will try to reproduce Jane Couch’s policy of “Have gloves, will travel”.

Anyone wishing to offer Juliette contests should contact Tex Woodward.
